Purpose: The Diocesan Council has made available funds for congregational projects in those areas that the Bishop designates. The grant decision is made by the Bishop and the Diocesan Council is advised of the use of the funds. The availability of funds varies from year to year.
Application: Application begins with a phone call to the Canon to the Ordinary to outline the purpose of the grant. If funds are available and the purpose of the grant seems consistent to the purpose of the Bishop Initiative grants, the congregation will be asked to submit application documents to the Canon to the Ordinary. Applications can be made at any time during the calendar year and are only for that year.
Documents Required:
- Cover Letter
o Narrative that describes the project
o Detailed description of the project
o Way in which it will enhance your congregation or ministry
o How will you sustain this project when the grant ends
o What are the staff requirements and how will they be filled
- Total budget for the project
- 3 years past financial statements (year end)
- Current budget for the congregation
- Year to date financial statements
- Projected income and expense statement for coming 5 years

Email all of the following documents to the Canon to the Ordinary. Be sure to put the name of the congregation or faith community in the subject line of the email.
Process: The Canon to the Ordinary will review the documents and will work with you to be sure that we have all the information needed. The Canon will take the package to the Bishop who will review it. The Bishop may request a meeting with the leadership of the congregation.
