Multicultural Grants

The Diocese of Olympia awards grants to congregations annually for the purpose of the development of healthier, more faithful and vital ethnic and multicultural communities of faith.

Grants awarded reflect goals similar to grants from the Congregational Development Grants, but with an emphasis on congregations’ conscious effort to minister with ethnic minorities and/or multicultural communities.

The overall purpose of congregational grants program to multicultural congregations is to assist congregations in the Diocese as they develop, with God’s help, into healthier, more faithful, and more effective communities of faith. We are interested, in making grants to congregations that have a vision for their own development and want our assistance in making progress toward that vision.

Money given as grants are typically used for operating expenses. The Diocese does not fund capital projects (building) through the multicultural grants program.  Additionally, grants and grant applications should demonstrate intention that the congregation will over time move toward being self-sustaining. Steps toward sustainability might include: plans to raise up locally trained priests, realistic budgeting, stewardship teaching, partnering with host congregations, have team attend College for Congregational Development etc.

2023 grants process and timeline will be posted in spring of 2022.
